Post Season (Almost) Recap

Well, First Gun Season is in the books as they say (whoever "they" are) and it was a busy one.

The first day saw 4 deer in the shed as most of you that follow us already know. The second day also saw 4 more hanging. Merlin and I both took smallish bucks, John tagged out with a doe and Bill had a "mercy" taking of a small buck that was suffering from mutiple wounds of which none were immediately fatal.

On Sunday we did quite a bit of driving with very little result. Bob would beg to differ as he tagged out with a doe in the morning and a buck in the afternoon. Other than that it was pretty slow.

I could go off on a rant about poaching and tresspassing but I'm not going to. But if you're the ones hunting down on Jetty's without permission keep looking behind you. Its only a matter of time. Oh, and smile for the cameras.

Only 2 in for second gun this year. You'll remember Drew and Ron from last year. I hope I can keep up with their goings on a little better than I did with Mark and Kim and them.

All in all it has been a good season. A great season if we just talk about the folks we had hunting with us. We took some very good deer this year but just couldn't seem to get the monsters in close. Seems to be the case with a lot of folks around here this year. There have been some exceptions but as a rule the number of monster bucks wan't as high this year according to my local sources.

Dennis over at D&E Archery did tell me this morning of a trio of "Booners" brought in on Thursday. Respective scores were 182, 184, and 187. Now, those are monster deer. Dennis does have a couple of pictures at the bow shop if you'd like to drop in to see them. Wouldn't do to almost wrap up the season without one last thanks to Dennis for keeping our guys in the trees this year. Great work Dennis!

That's going to be it for now I guess. We'll have extra pictures up in the photo albums very soon for you all to look at.

For those of you that left stuff with us this year, please give me a call to let me know what belongs to who and I'll get it sent out to you. There's somebody out there with an API climber that can't be very steady.

If you want to leave your stuff til next year, well, like me, it'll see you back at the lodge.

Chris
